Getting Started

STEP 1 - HOW TO TIE THE JIU JITSU BELT
Now that your Child is on their Jiu Jitsu journey, first thing you'll need to learn is how to tie a Jiu Jitsu belt. Here's an old tutorial of our co-founder, Rener Gracie explaining the 3 variations: The Standard Variation, Hollywood Variation and Super-lock Variation. He's very charismatic and the video is quite entertaining - enjoy!

STEP 2 - EARN THEIR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT PATCH
Follow the steps on the Gracie Game Day Sheet section of this site so your child may qualify to earn their required Character Development Patch and gain entry to the next Gracie Game Day.

STEP 3 - LOG-ON TO YOUR CHILD'S ONLINE CURRICULUM
Included in your membership is FREE access to Gracie Bullyproof online (normally a $20.00 per month subscription). In addition to to the video outlining Gracie Games™ and the curriculum we follow in class, there are supplementary video learning tools like: Gracie KidSafe™ and Parent Preparation that will enhance your childs self-defense awareness.

Little Champs (ages 5-7)

The Little Champs program is for kids 5-7 years old (we offer private lessons for children ages 3-4). Using our time-tested “Gracie Games,” we teach the Little Champs basic self-defense techniques and simple verbal assertiveness techniques while instilling the foundational principles of leverage and control. The secret to the success of this program is that we make the lessons so fun that the kids beg for more! Once a child masters all ten Gracie Games, they advance to the Jr. Grapplers program.

Junior Grapplers (ages 8-12)

In the Jr. Grapplers program, we focus on 33 non-violent self-defense techniques that teach children to “neutralize and negotiate” with the bullies. Verbal assertiveness strategies are a major portion of this curriculum. A child needs absolutely no experience to start, and we guarantee a noticeable increase in your child’s confidence within a few weeks!

Black Belt Club

Black Belt Club is the most advanced program in the Gracie Bullyproof Program. This program delves deeper into more advanced techniques and more challenging training sessions. To qualify, students must meet certain age and rank requirements. Most importantly, they must embody the six essential traits of the Gracie Character Development Program by having acquired all six patches.
